The Cholesky Factorization
We prove that every symmetric positive definite matrix has a Cholesky Factorization as the product of the adjoint of an upper triangular matrix times the same upper triangular matrix. This upper triangular matrix will have strictly positive diagonal entries. The proof follows from the QR factorization of the unique positive square root of the matrix.
