INSERTING A LINK IN GOOGLE DOCS
There are many uses for links these days, whether it be a link to your profile elsewhere, the source of the information, or your website, just a lot of them. In Google Docs basically you can add a link to nearly every element, be it a text, image, or whatever. And when you insert a link the text will get highlighted with blue color and underlined just like we’re used to how links look on the web.
To add a hyperlink to a text, highlight some part of a text you want to put a link into - a word, phrase, or even a whole paragraph. Then on the toolbar on top locate and press on an icon symbolizing a link, and then simply paste your link into the appearing field and click "Apply" next to it. The text will turn blue and will get underlined, indicating that it contains a link. Or to insert a link you can use a shortcut, which is Ctrl + K for PC and Cmd + K for Mac. So now when you click anywhere on the highlighted text it will bring up a bar with a few first values of the link, and if you or anyone else will click on it, it will naturally send you to the source of the link.
OTHER FEATURES
Also it might show a little preview of the content of the link, if the source allows it to. For instance, if you paste a link to a YouTube video and press on it afterwards it may show a little preview of the video with some images from it. Or it can be a preview of a website, or your profile on some social network, yet it doesn’t work for everything. And as mentioned earlier, you are able to insert a link into an image in the doc, which is performed just the same way. Select the image, go to the "Link" icon on the toolbar and press it, then paste a link the appearing field and hit “Apply”, this is it. Now when you click on an image it will bring up the familiar bar with the link, below the image settings. And finally, to remove a link press on the text or an image with the link in it, and on the appearing bar with the link press on the rightmost icon. The text will get back to normal, meaning it no longer contains a link.
