Big cats have fascinated mankind since the dawn of time. Our ancestors, who could not equal their power and were sometimes prey themselves, believed they had supernatural powers: gods or demons, and sometimes half-human creatures, their mystery stems from our deepest beliefs.
Mike Penman, a guide at the Botswana National Park approaches lions with no weapons, but only a roll of toilet paper in his hand. If the lion attacks, he’ll throw it at its head, and hope it creates a short diversion so that he can make it back to his car. But he knows this ruse won’t always work.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, Masai live along the borders of Kenya and Tanzania. But these nomadic shepherds share their land with the lion, and confrontations are inevitable between man and beast.
