You need to know all the costs involved, so that you can understand what the base price of the product is. You have to have a feeling of how much your clients are willing to spend on a product and based on their financial state you can increase or decrease the margin.

A great idea is to release the product in a test mode. The product does not need to be perfect, because you are just testing the market. You can also try to make some pre selling and try to offer the product to people even before you have produced it.

That strategy will help you make a good market research without destroying the market. You will get an idea of how much you are going to sell and how profitable that product can be.

In the beginning you are a beginner and people are not going to copy you. But, as you become more successful, more and more people are going to try to steal your idea.

Big corporation cannot outcompete the minor players every time. However, you do not need to worry about this all the time. It is also possible sometimes to come out with a product that can boom and become successful.

It is hard for huge corporations to release new products regularly. They rely on products that they know they are proven to work.
