LEN Function is a text function in Excel that returns the length of a string or text. It can be used to count the number of characters in a text string. This example explains on how to use LEN function utilizing simple syntax referencing the cell for which the characters are to be counted. The LEN function also counts the spaces as character along with the special characters that sensitizes the data quality of the data. This function can hence be used to quality check number of characters as provided in a data set as we can see in this example, where bank account number for employees are provided.
