EDATE Function is again a date function in Excel that adds a given number of months into a date. This function takes two arguments just like in EOMONTH: one is the date and another is an integer for the number of months preceding or succeeding your reference date. The output is in date format.
This example explains on how to use EDATE function for a simple problem whereby a array of dates are given in one column and the number of months exceeding (positive integers) or preceding (negative integers) the date. The EDATE( ) function in the corresponding column returns the end of the month for the reference date as dictated by the number of months specified in the second.
You can use EDATE to calculate expiry dates, maturity dates, and other due dates. By using a positive value for the months we can get a date in the future, and a negative value for dates in the past.
