Separatist rebels in English-speaking regions escalated their campaign for independence from the country's French-speaking areas. In Bamenda, the capital of the restive North West Region of Cameroon, some learners are opting to forego their uniforms to avoid being targeted by the rebels. However, local government officials, say there is nothing to fear, as learning institutions are secure from the threat of separatist fighters.
