The Offset is an essential reference function in Excel used in cases where you have to pull a specific cell reference and have it displayed else or churned with a separate function or formula altogether.
This example explains on how to use OFFSET function in Excel. The syntax of the function contains five arguments altogether, where three are mandatory, as we used in this example and two are optional. The first argument requires the cell address or range of adjacent cells we wish to offset our result from. The second argument tells Excel the number of rows to move up or down from the ‘reference’ argument value. Positive numbers are downward from the reference. Negative numbers are upward from the reference. As we used COUNTA function for the whole column this would calculate all the entries in the column save 1, which is why we included -1 in addition to account for the header of our column. The third argument also tells Excel the number of rows to move to the left or right from the reference argument value. Positive numbers are to the right while negative numbers are to the left of the reference value. Since we want to blind this argument by affixing our formula focus to column, we used 0 instead of anything else.
