After Effects CC 2021: How To Import Photoshop Files & Retain Layers
This tutorial will show you how to import Photoshop files with layers to Adobe After Effects CC 2021 so you can design in Photoshop and animate in Adobe After Effects
Keyboard Shortcut To Import in After Effects:
cmd/ctrl + i

Export From Photoshop:
1. File ‘Save As’
2. Select Photoshop as File Type
3. Save to Destination as .psd file
Import to Adobe After Effects:
1. Cmd/Ctrl + i or double click on Project Panel
2. Select Photoshop .psd file
3. Enable ‘All Acceptable Files’
4. Format ‘Photoshop’ (default once .psd is selected)
5. Import as ‘Composition-Retain Layer Sizes’
6. Check box ‘Create Composition’
7. Click ‘Open’
8. Check the radio button ‘Editable Layer Styles’
9. Click ‘Ok’ to import Photoshop File to After Effects
10. Double click on Composition to open
11. Layers in Layers Panel in After Effects with Layer Styles
How To Edit Photoshop Layers from After Effects:
1. Right-click on any layer
2. Select ‘Open’…’Edit Original’
