This tutorial will show you how to use the Alpha From Lightness (Unmult) Effect in Adobe After Effects CC 2024 to remove the black background from footage.


How To Use The Alpha From Lightness (Unmult Effect):
1. Open After Effects
2. Create a New Composition
3. Add Footage Layer (such as an animated texture)
4. Add a still or animated texture with a black background
5. Select Layer with black background
6. Go to Effects & Presets
7. Search for Unmult
8. Select ‘Alpha From Lightness (Unmult) Effect and drag on to footage layer
9. Go to Effect Controls
10. Change ‘Take Alpha From’ to ‘Lightness’ or ‘Luminance
