A linear pattern in Solidworks is a powerful tool for creating repetitive features in a straight line. Here's how you can use it:

1. Creating the Base Feature:
Start by creating the base feature you want to repeat. This could be a boss, a hole, a cut, or even a sketch entity.

2. Accessing the Linear Pattern Tool:
There are two ways to access the Linear Pattern tool:
Features Toolbar: Locate the "Linear Pattern" icon on the Features toolbar.
Menu: Go to Insert - Pattern/Mirror - Linear Pattern.

3. Defining the Pattern:
The Linear Pattern PropertyManager will appear. Here's what you'll set:
Direction 1 & 2: Select the edge or axis that defines the direction of the pattern. You can choose one or two directions for a linear array.
Spacing: Specify the distance between each repetition of the feature.
Number of Instances: Define the total number of repetitions (including the original feature).
Reverse direction (optional): Check this box to reverse the direction of the pattern.

4. Additional Options:
Angle: If using two directions, set the angle between them.
Skip: This allows you to exclude specific instances from the pattern.
Entities to Pattern: Lets you choose a specific sketch entity to pattern within a feature.

5. Completing the Pattern:
Once you've set all the options, click the green checkmark to create the linear pattern.
