Assemblies are essentially collections of individual parts (.sldprt files) that you create in SolidWorks.
These parts are positioned and linked together using connectors called mates. Mates define the relationships between parts, such as ensuring a shaft fits into a bearing or a wheel is connected to an axle.
SolidWorks allows you to create assemblies using two main approaches:
Bottom-up design: Here, you design individual parts first and then assemble them.
Top-down design: You can define some aspects of a part based on its placement and interaction with other parts in the assembly.
