Tony Scott's 1964 LP Music For Zen Meditation And Other Joys is among the foundational recordings of ambient music. Scott, a jazz musician, collaborated with koto player Yuize to create an album which while usually filed under "Jazz" or "World Music," really was neither of those things ... or some of both and more. It has also been described as the "first" New Age recording, though its minimalist approach has little in common with the likes of Yanni.
