This is the story of our Mammoth #blizzard experience. We traveled on a winter trip to #Mammoth Mountain, California to go skiing and snow boarding. After we geared up, we went to the first lift only to find out it was close. Then we went to the next one and it closed as well. Then another and another. This was all due to the poor weather conditions, in particular high wind. We decided to head out as there were no signs of the #storm easing. Everyone headed down the mountain back to Mammoth Lakes. People lined up outside of the resort to catch buses. Cars departed along with us driving at slow speeds with their hazard lights on. Visibility was getting worse. We went to the grocery store and headed to our cabin for the day.
We explore the area to see the impacts of the epic snow storm around our cabin. There was snow piled up everywhere and walkways, addresses and signs needed to be carved out from the snow. The question of the day was should we stay or leave. Would we be able to leave? Were we snowed in? We decided to stay.
The next morning our cars and the road was covered in snow. We were blessed to have a bulldozer clear the road first thing in the morning. We dug out our cars and headed out. We encountered gridlock traffic as we didn’t know if highway 395 was closed. Then the weather conditions became even worse. We were experiencing full white out conditions as we waited to get to the highway. We could hardly even see the car in front of us. You’ll have to play to see if we made it out.
