The way it works is you hold down the Shift key and begin speaking and then the program will type out what it is that you say and then you can copy that to the clipboard and paste it where you want it so it'll save you some time.

This Free Speech to Text application is that actually designed to be a typed language translator but it works perfectly for using it as a speech to text app.

You just hold down the shift key begin speaking and when you're done speaking release the Shift key and it will type out what you said. Copy and paste that where you need it.
