While many people experience memory problems as they age, some older adults remain extremely sharp well into their twilight years. Craig Myrum, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health, believes these differences could stem from age-related changes in sleep and the behavior of memory-related genes. His discoveries could eventually help people stay healthy and active for more of their lives.
