Monkey Shoulder first released in 2005 and is a blend of malts from Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie.
The name Monkey Shoulder derives from an age old ailment malting staff would get from the constant manual work of turning the barley all day. Thankfully, times have changed and modern machinery takes the brunt of this labour now.
As for the dram, it's an affordable blend coming in at roughly £25-30 in the UK. It has bags of honey on the nose, palate and finish. The palate develops a touch of the ex-bourbon oak and the vanilla that comes with the cask choice.
The finish is pretty decent with a great, sweet honey note.
