Here's my jazz tenor saxophone cover of Pokéball Factory from Pokémon X & Y! I'm Sab and I love jazz and video games, so now I make covers that combine two of my favorite things!
Happy Halloween, guys! :)
I actually dressed up as Hilda yesterday for Halloween at school. Wrong gen, right franchise :^)
This was a song I wanted to do last Halloween, but it didn’t work out too well. Because for some reason I was not using a metronome, or paying attention to rhythms. I was trying too hard to fix what I had recorded instead of rerecording.
I’m happy I waited because the tenor sound is much smoother than the alto in this cover!
A lot of my projects coming up are ones I wanted to do last year, but I just didn't have any ideas for them. So I'm happy I'm finally able to share them with you in the next few months! :)
I used a Joshua Redman song to get ideas for drums, it’s not that similar, but it helped me get more accurate ideas to how jazz drummers play.
The piano solo was a lot fun because the little “modulations” from the chords. Sax solos won’t be consistent thing on my channel because I prefer piano improvs, but I’ll incorporate sax solos once in awhile.
If you listen closely, you can hear another song blended in at the very end. That last section of half and whole notes needed an extra layer to it with something slightly more moving. Plus it creates some cool chord qualities.
