The Execution Of The Priest That Stood Up To Hitler And Was Guillotined
During the Second World War there were many people who were sentenced to death and executed within Germany for refusing to fight. Many of those faced horrific executions on the guillotine inside of German prisons, and the Nazis wanted to crush anyone who dissented against them. One man who was brutally executed on the guillotine was Friedrich Lorenz, a Priest who actually fought for Germany during the First and Second World War. Lorenz even was awarded the Iron Cross twice for bravery, however he could not turn his back on his Catholic religion.
He left the military and possibly deserted to return to his congregation but at the time Hitler and the Nazis were heavily persecuting Catholics and many priests were being sent to concentration camps. Lorenz hosted a resistance group known as 'The Wednesday Group,' who met and openly dissented against the Nazis and Hitler, however this was raided and he was arrested. He was placed on trial, and for his treason was sentenced to death. Inside of Halle Prison he was executed on the guillotine.
