The Madagascar aye-aye, or aye-aye (some authors consider this spelling and pronunciation obsolete), or aye-aye or aye-aye or aye-aye (lat. Daubentonia madagascariensis) is the only modern species (another described species, Daubentonia robusta, died out about 1000 years ago) of the family Alecadia. (Daubentoniidae), a mammal with fluffy black-brown fur, a long tail and very elongated thin fingers. It is nocturnal in the tropical forests of Madagascar. The largest representative of nocturnal primates. It has a brown color with white speckles and a large fluffy tail. Lives in the north of Madagascar. The species is listed in the Red Book.
