Virtual Roundtable on Bangladesh Agriculture - 25 January 2022
Bangladesh and the Netherlands share many commonalities. Water and agriculture feature prominently within that matrix in the menu of cooperation between the two countries. In recent times, the Governments as well as stakeholders from research - academia - business community in both countries have recognised the potential to engage in transformation of Bangladesh agriculture. As much as that is to tap the immense untapped potential but also to address some of the key challenges in Bangladesh agriculture. This topic came up during the visit of Hon. Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the Netherlands (2015), but featured even more prominently during the recent visit of the Hon. Minister of Agriculture of Bangladesh (9-13 Nov. 2021) when he was joined by representatives from some of the leading agro-business enterprises from Bangladesh.
It is in this backdrop that the Bangladesh Embassy in Netherlands and Wageningen University and Research held a this Virtual Roundtable on 25 January 2022. The main objective of this Roundtable was to have an open discussion and debate on what should be the future course/scenario(s) for Bangladesh agriculture, at least for the next 10-15 years.
