TMT study tour of Uganda
Inspiring stories of Uganda's sustainable agriculture practices and innovative seed sector development that are transforming the lives of farmers and communities. Follow a group of agricultural professionals from Ethiopia, Sudan, and South Sudan on their journey to Uganda to learn about the country's successful conservation and use of plant genetic resources, Integrated Seed Sector Development, and Community Seed Banks. Discover the importance and benefits of crop diversity, the thriving local seed business, and the roles of community seed banks in ensuring food security, stable income, improved education, and gender inclusion.
The tour was part of a larger capacity development initiative “Tailor-Made Training (TMT) Plus Course on Building resilient food systems in protracted crisis situations: Climate change, seed systems and community seed banks.” This initiative is funded by NUFFIC of the Netherlands, and coordinated by Wageningen University & Research and the Alliance of Bioversity International.
