This album, probably dating from the late 1950s, begins with a popular tune of 1932, which was probably largely forgotten when Anson returned to the recording studios to make this stereo album (also released in mono). I get the impression the choice of material was entirely in Anson's hands, which allowed him the chance to play melodies he remembered with fondness as well as including more contemporary numbers like "Mack the Knife" which must have appealed to him. Happily he ends the album with the lovely melody which he wrote as his theme song, "I'm Writing You This Little Melody".
