50% of what electricity customers pay to buy a power token goes to pay for the fixed costs. This is according to Energy CS Charles Keter who has instructed the Energy Regulation Commission to harmonise electricity tariffs in the next 3 months. Harmonisation of tariffs in this context means simplifying the tariffs for customers to have a straightforward transaction with Kenya Power.
The CS has taken Kenya Power to task over the paybill payment system saying the firm's explanation was "too complex" which is why customers don't trust Kenya Power. NTV's Alex Mwangi joins us live from Stima Plaza, the Kenya Power Company's Headquarters
