Meet the vaquita, aka the California porpoise (Phocoena sinus) — a rare species of porpoise endemic to the northern part of the Gulf of California, meaning our cute porpoise lives only there and nowhere else. And this is an area of only 40 square kilometers.
The name " vaquita "(English" vaquita") is of Spanish origin, and translates as"little cow".
