We start at dawn in this video in the village of Palézieux, on the line connecting Bern and Lausanne. Usually, all passenger trains coming from the direction of Bern as we are, continue on the main line to Lausanne. We, however, will be taking a very special connection line from Puidoux down to Vevey, with a 3.8% decent.

The line was nicknamed "the vineyard railway", as we pass directly through a unesco heritage listed region of Vineyards overlooking lake Geneva (lac Léman), notably the largest lake in Switzerland. Hopefully we'll be able to show you the line at a later date in full daylight.

We then continue along the Simplon line to Brig,
