Microsoft ended support for WIndows Movie Maker on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Windows Movie Maker was part of Windows Essentials 2012 Suite. All the apps that were included in it, along with Windows Movie Maker, reached end of support on that date.
Windows Movie Maker was originally released along with Windows Millenium Edition (Windows ME).
The successor to Windows Movie Maker is the built-in video editor within Photos App on Windows 10, and later the Clipchamp on Windows 11. Clipchamp was acquired by Microsoft on September 7, 2021.
