6-2 Placing Parts in Assembly - Solidworks Tutorials
There are two main ways to place parts in a SolidWorks assembly:
1. Inserting Components:
This is similar to moving files into a folder. You can insert parts in two ways:
2.Drag and Drop:
-Open your assembly file.
-Navigate to the location of your part files (usually saved as .sldprt).
-Drag the desired part file directly into the graphics area of your assembly.
-If you drop the part near a compatible feature (like a hole for a bolt), -SolidWorks might suggest a smart mate to position the part automatically.
-Confirm the placement by clicking anywhere in the graphics area (outside the part).
