Meet the Arctic Fox, Arctic Fox, or Arctic Fox ( Vulpes lagopus, [. Alopex lagopus] from others-Greek. ἀλώπηξ "Fox" and λᾰγώπους "tizenegy") is a species of carnivorous mammal of the family Canidae, usually referred to the genus foxes. However, it is sometimes separated into a separate genus (Alopex) of the name itself.

Body length 50-75 cm, tail — 25-30 cm, height at the withers — 20-30 cm. The average body weight of the male is 3.5 kg, the maximum is up to 9 kg, and the female is 3 kg. Unlike the common Fox, the body of the Arctic Fox is squat, the muzzle is shortened; the ears are rounded and slightly protrude from the winter coat (this protects them from frostbite). And the name of the species — lagopus — in Greek. It means "hare's paw", because the soles of the paws of Arctic foxes are covered with coarse hair. And this is also all from the same frostbite.
