Google Cloud Platform | Add Firewall Rules with Python API | gcloud
This google cloud platform tutorial covers the Firewall API, but also applies to the initial set up for just about any of the APIs - we'll see how you can insert firewall rules using Python code, written using vim in the cloud shell, but you could just as easily use Nano, Sublime text etc..(and paste the code into the shell).

If you need a shorter prompt in cloud shell, use this:
export PS1="someshortprompt$:"
Note: as the 'priority' of a rule approaches 1, it take precedence.
