How To Edit Prompt with Remix Mode in Midjourney
In this video, we’ll take a quick look at how to use the remix mode inside of Midjourney.
What remix allows you to do, is create a variation on an image or grid that you’ve generated, but instead of just letting Midjourney create new images automatically, you can instead edit or add to your prompt.
For instance, we can create a new imagine prompt, and say, something like, 1990’s era, kitchen, bright sunny morning, family eating breakfast. Run that and we’ll get our grid of images back.
Now if we want to create variations, we can run 4 brand new ones, or we can get variations on one of our images by choosing the variation number here on the bottom. Say we want variations of image 3.
But if we run that right now, it’s just going to randomly generate 4 new images similar to that image. But we want to adjust our prompt, by changing the image era. To do that, we need to turn on remix mode.
There’s two ways. The first is by typing, /settings. Inside of here, you’ll see remix mode. Select that to turn it on. When you’re finished and want to turn remix mode off, you’ll need to come back inside of here and turn it off.
The other way to turn it on or off, and the way that I do it, is by typing /prefer remix. This will automatically turn the feature on. Again, to turn it off, just type /prefer remix again and it’ll turn it off. But once we have it on, let’s see how it works.
Back on the image that we want to get variations on, choose the variation button. You’ll then get a remix prompt popup. Inside of the text box here, you can edit or add to your original prompt.
So, like I said, we want to change the era of our image. So, I’ll change 1990’s to 1950’s. And maybe I’ll add the aspect ratio parameter to the end and make the image landscape. To do that, just type --ar and the 16:9 to the end of the prompt.
When you’re ready, hit submit. You’ll then see the image variations generated will reflect the new changes we made. And when you’re finished with remix mode, you can turn it back off like we looked at.
And that’s how you enable and use the remix mode inside of Midjourney.
