Even before the pandemic and the rise of diverse working formats, most businesses began to embrace a wide array of communication and collaboration technologies intended to meet the needs of their young and tech-savvy employees. As the number of tools rises rapidly, creating a disciplined process for governing investment and adoption of these tools becomes even more critical. Moreover, with the number of options now available to employees and the consumer experience they’ve come to expect, business leadership as it pertains to the digital employee experience has become absolutely essential. The problem is that this work does not fit neatly into any of the existing business functions we associate with technology. We will make the case for a business-led digital workplace function that advocates for a simple, clean employee experience in and among our digital ecosystem:
