CASE STUDY | SIMULATION & VERIFICATION PROCESSES FOR ADAS AND AUTONOMOUS DRIVING SYSTEMS DOWN THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CYCLE
Dr Siddartha Khastgir, Head of Verification & Validation, Intelligent VehiclesWMG, University of Warwick.
Automotive industry is rapidly moving in an Era where technology contents, interior design and electrification will be the key factors for leading the market. In this scenario, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) design, integration and validation approaches are well consolidated but they are recently experiencing a smooth revolution as car makers are giving great importance and investing time, people and money into the automated driving (AD) rush. If AD system design, development and integration in the vehicle are definitely challenging aspects due to the huge increase of components (sensors, ECU, backup elements …), the validation of these systems is, on the other hand, opening to new process definition, approaches and tools that were little used in the automotive industry until nowadays.
Along this presentation, we are going to cover some aspects that are impacting the product development cycle in terms of system validation (xIL simulation, models harmonization, ADAS/AD simulation and validation …) and we are also going to present a real example of adopting MIL simulation framework in the early phases of an ADAS product development.
