Student says she's fighting racism at W.Va. high school, where some fly Confederate flags
Confederate flags are flying at East Hardy High School in Baker, West Virginia. One student said it’s another example of racism inside her school district and she wants to expose it.
It’s the focus of a Crisis in the Classroom exclusive I-Team investigation.
On the last week of school before this year’s summer break at East Hardy High School students started showing up for class flying the confederate flag in the back of their pick-up trucks.
“Nobody seems to care and it’s really disheartening to think about that,”
says Skyla Nelson who will be heading into her junior year in the fall.
Nelson believes the flags are a result of her conducting her own investigation into the use of the n-word by students at East Hardy.
