Today, I made an instrument using the DunneSampler in AudioKit. The DunneSampler comes with a ton of features and is the preferred method of play back from AudioKit Pro. It uses SFZs and the creator Shane Dunne even has a cross platform implementation in JUCE.

Here is a breakdown of how I see AppleSampler vs. DunneSampler:

AppleSampler
Pros
Uses Apple’s AVAudioUnitSampler
Uses AUSampler instruments

Cons
Not documented well
Difficult to configure
Closed Source

DunneSampler
Pros
Great controls out of the box
Used by AudioKit Pro
Could be cross-platform with JUCE

Cons
Only one voice per key when sustained
Might be difficult to maintain in the future

Thanks for watching!
