Apart from initial setup, this is my first play of the 14" x 10" High Tension Premier marching drum on the kit I bought it to go with.
Problems with this recording session:
I wasn't in a good mood and struggled to get any flow going.
The mic I set up for the bass drum didn't record for some reason.
Due to its depth, the snare drum still sits too high for me, despite raising my stool and everything else on the kit to try to compensate. The hi-hats need to be a bit higher. I'll get a Pearl 1030 series low stand when I can afford it. (New, they're almost what I paid for the drum. Will try to modify the stand I cobbled together in the meantime.)
Anyway, I like this drum very much. It's more versatile that I expected, very responsive, and handles the various tunings easily. Obviously it can be tuned much higher than the 'high' setting I chose.
Recorded on older model Tascam and Roland field recorders with a bit of sound added from the Nikon D600 DSLR camera. Compression added in Audacity.
