AIRWAY ASSESSMENT
Airway management is done by the ABC (airway, breathing and circulation) approach. The initital airway assessment involves auscultation and palpation alongside obtundation which suggests hypercarbia. One of the methods of definitive airway management is the rapid sequence intubation (RSI). It invovles oral intubation without interposed body mass ventilation (BMV). Both the difficult and failed airway can be managed in their own ways. Some of the devices used for difficult or failed airway incldue video laryngoscopy, fibroptic intubation alongside cricothyrotomy and digital intubation.
