Nastus Elatus, the New Guinea (Niugini) Green Bamboo, is a giant timber bamboo with light green elongated canes with thin cell walls which means it has a long hollow internode. It has many traditional uses such as musical instruments, bow strings, water storage, cooking pot and also widely used for building traditional houses. The New Guinea Green Bamboo shoots are delicious, can be eaten raw of cooked. It can grow up to 15 metres in height. A lush, light green bamboo from Papua New Guinea it is different to most bamboos in that it has very soft foliage with a light and delicate appearance.
