We continue on our 6-part aerial adventure inspired by the Grand Tour’s journey through Europe. Tonight we take the Diamond DA42 by COWS.
Part 2: The Great Escape
Right, for this leg of our journey, we’re trading in the brute force of the Caribou for something that’s more Bond than Rambo—the Diamond DA42 by COWS. This isn’t just a plane; it’s the aviation equivalent of a sleek Aston Martin with a PhD in aerodynamics. With its carbon fiber body, twin engines, and glass cockpit, the DA42 is designed to make flying feel less like work and more like an art form.

We kick off in Poznań EPPO, a city that’s been around longer than most countries. Poznań is where Poland itself practically began, and today, it’s a buzzing mix of history and modernity. The airport here is one of Poland’s oldest, with a history dating back to 1913, but you wouldn’t know it with all the modern facilities.

Next, we’re heading southwest to Zielona Góra EPZG, a place famous for its vineyards. Yes, in Poland! This town is the heart of Polish wine country, and as we glide over the lush, green vineyards. The airport itself? It’s small, quiet, and surrounded by all this greenery.

Then, we make a poignant flyover of Stalag Luft III (coordinates: 51.5969°N, 15.2917°E), the infamous WWII POW camp where the “Great Escape” took place.

Finally, we head to Wrocław EPWR, one of Poland’s most beautiful cities. A mix of Gothic spires and modern architecture, it’s a city that’s risen from the ashes of history—literally. The DA42 swoops in over the Oder River, offering views that are nothing short of cinematic. Wrocław’s airport is bustling, modern, and just the right place to show off the DA42’s landing finesse.

In this part of our journey, the DA42 isn’t just a plane; it’s a statement. It’s about flying with style, precision, and just a touch of swagger. And as we soar over Poland, from ancient cities to historic sites, the DA42 proves that sometimes, it’s not just about getting there—it’s about how you get there. And with this beauty, you’re getting there in style.
