Leonard Slatkin conducts a Bach 'Scherzo' marking his own Birthday!
Leonard Slatkin's 80th Birthday on 1st September 2024 is being marked here by a brief "Scherzo" by Bach. The piece comes from his Partita No. 3 in A minor for keyboard and is heard in an orchestral arrangement by Sir Henry Wood, founder of the London Proms. Leonard Slatkin recorded two splendid CDs of Bach transcriptions for Chandos and this particular track comes from Wood's Suite No. 6. It consists of an assortment of Bach arrangements and is played by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Happy Birthday, Maestro!
