Mussorgsky's piano suite "Pictures at an Exhibition" has been arranged and orchestrated numerous times but it is Ravel's version which has reigned supreme over the years. However, Leopold Stokowski's 'symphonic transcription' of the work is its principal runner-up, having been performed and recorded by several conductors. Among these is José Serebrier, Stokowski's former Associate Conductor, seen here in the work's famous and spectacular final 'picture.' It comes from a concert given in Chester Cathedral, England, in 2007. The orchestra was the National Youth Orchestra of Spain and the whole concert can be seen on a 'Naxos' DVD (Catalogue No. 2.110230).
