The test is used to
monitors exposure to iodine;
diagnosis of iodine deficiency or excess,
Diagnose iodine-induced hyperthyroidism
And hypothyroidism
Can also diagnose autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Graves' disease and Hashimoto's thyroiditis

Normal ranges...
Up to 7 years old: 90 micrograms (mcg)
7-12 years old: 120 mcg
12 years and older: 150 mcg
Pregnant/breastfeeding women: 200 mcg
iodine deficiency is the most common cause of brain damage.
Deficiency in pregnant women can result in miscarriage or stillbirth, low birth weight, and congenital abnormalities
