แม้ว่าจะมีคำยืนยันจากแพทย์ว่า ถ้าหาซื้อหน้ากากอนามัย N95 ไม่ได้ ก็สามารถใช้หน้ากากธรรมดา 2 ชั้น ทดแทนได้เช่นเดียวกัน แต่บางคนพยายามจะหาซื้อ N95 มาใส่ให้ได้ เพื่อความอุ่นใจ มีคำแนะนำจากแพทย์เพิ่มเติมว่า หน้ากากอนามัย N95 จะป้องกัน PM 2.5 ได้ ก็ต่อเมื่อใส่ให้ถูกต้อง
