Answering a viewer question, we prove that every finite group with exactly two maximal subgroups is cyclic. Along the way, we define maximal subgroups and prove that every proper subgroup in a finite group is contained in a maximal subgroup. We also prove that no group can be written as the union of two proper subgroups.
