Choose the right exhibition - There are so many these days that you have to carefully select the exhibitions that will have your ideal target audience attending.
Check out your competition - Do a little research on exhibitor lists before the event and see what your competitors are doing. Stalk their social media to see if you are missing a trick or need to improve on your own.
Create a plan - What do you want to achieve from this exhibition? Is it x amount of new clients? Think about how you can secure them. Logistically you should plan at least three months before an event, ensure staff are available and work out all the small details.
Promote yourself before the show - Make sure you find out the relevant hashtags for the show and start tweeting. It's as simple as that. If people understand what you do and how you can benefit them, they will make a point to visit you. During the Pharmacy Show, I recall around 5-6 people coming to us directly from our efforts on social media. They knew what we did before we could even tell them, making our lives so much easier.
Follow-up - A great event can mean nothing if you don't follow up correctly. Make sure you have a plan of action to ensure that you convert the leads that you have generated from the event.
