Smooth / Slow Zoom In, Pause and Zoom Out to a frame in iMovie - Ken burns effect.
Step-by-step instructions on how to smoothly or slowly zoom in a frame, pause or being zoomed in for some time in that frame, and zoom out from that frame using iMovie. This demo covers both video and still image.
I have applied a technique that makes the zoom-in and zoom-out transition very smooth.
The steps are following:
1. Separate one clip with the total duration of all 3 effects. For example, if you want to zoom in for 3 seconds, pause for 4 seconds and zoom out in 2 seconds, this single clip length will be 3+4+2 = 9 seconds.
2. Apply Ken burns on the whole clip.
3. Split clip after 3 seconds and after 7 seconds.
4. First part of the clip is for zoom-in. Keep it as it is as Ken burns already applied to it.
5. For the 2nd clip swap start and end areas. Then Crop to fill.
6. For the 3rd clip swap start and end areas. Now play the video and see the effects in action :)
