Last month, India took a huge step toward eliminating single-use plastic by banning such items, including straws, plates, cutlery and thin packaging. A month on, the impact of the move has been felt across the country. The plastic manufacturing industry is still in shock. According to the All India Plastic Manufacturers Association, 88,000 single-use plastic manufacturers could go bankrupt due to the ban. The knock-on effect will also be felt by consumer goods companies that use plastic packaging and straws, causing revenue loss worth millions.
