Choeung Ek - AKA The Killing Fields
This is Choeung Ek also known as The Killing Fields in Cambodia. In the late 70's, 1975 to 1979 the Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot, murdered between 1.5 and 3 million people. The ruthless killing spree was kept secret to the world until a Vietnamese report was able to get eye witness. People were killed in awful, painful ways. Bullets were expensive so beatings, hatchet jobs, throats slashed, babies pummelled against trees were common methods. The bodies were then dumped into a mass grave, sometimes 450 at a time. Truck loads of people were trucked into Choeung Ek. led to the large craters in the ground and slaughtered on the spot. The bodies were then soaked in chemicals to stop the stench and kill anyone who may still have been alive. Awful, Awful, Awful and the world let it happen. It's still happening in countries today and the world turns a blind eye. The UN should step into places like North Korea, Syria, Yemen and stop the inhumane treatment of "human beings"!!!
