Often, months or years after cataract surgery, the capsule (a part of the eye behind the iris) that holds the intraocular lens (IOL) will become cloudy. This can make vision blurry or dim. Doctors call this posterior capsule opacification or PCO. Sometimes this is called a second cataract, or is mistakenly called scar tissue. This clouding of the lens can be easily and quickly treated by an ophthalmologist.
