Russian President Vladimir Putin Arrives In Mongolia For A State Visit, Receives Guard Of Honour
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Mongolia on September 2 for a two-day state visit, marking his first trip to an International Criminal Court (ICC) member since the ICC issued a warrant for his arrest last year. Upon landing in Ulaanbaatar, Putin was greeted with a guard of honour. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with Mongolia's President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and other officials, and participate in a World War II memorial event. This visit is his first to Mongolia since 2019. The ICC had issued a warrant for Putin's arrest on charges of war crimes in Ukraine and the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia. Ukraine has expressed outrage over the visit, accusing Mongolia of "sharing responsibility" for Putin's "war crimes" due to the failure to detain him at the airport. Kyiv had previously urged Mongolia to enforce the arrest warrant.
